Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama attended the Meeting of Heads of State and Government of NATO member countries, including President Tramp, Chancellor Merkel, King of Belgium and other personalities. The most important issues discussed during the summit were: the allocation of financial contributions of each country member and the fight against terrorism. Prime Minister was accompanied by Defense Minister Kodheli and Foreign Minister Bushati. Rama and the leaders of the Western Balkan countries had a working dinner tonight in Brussels with Enlargement Commissioner Federica Mogherini.
During the summit Albanian PM has also met the US President and several important political personalities in Europe.
It is learned that the conversation with President Trump was focused on the strategic alliance between Albania and USA, justice reform, and the mutual battle against extremism.
Additionally, Prime Minister Edi Rama, after a head-to-head meeting with the EU’s High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, in Brussels, before the informal dinner with the Western Balkan Prime Ministers, told the media that the EU should be prepared after June elections, Albanian government and opposition will be unified on requiring the opening of negotiations.
Speaking of cross-regional relations and obstacles on the common path of integration, he said, “There is no problem at the level of the reports. There is dialogue, communication, interaction of a common sense for the future of the Balkan countries. Then, of course, our willingness might not be enough, so Europe must have its willingness as well and we hope to get this will after the June 25th elections and after the elections in Germany.”
Meanwhile Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama met with his Greek counterpart Alexis Tsipras. The two Prime Ministers have discussed the progress of bilateral relations and finding a consultation mechanism for solving common problems inherited from the past and moving away from conflicting rhetoric.
The summit took place on 25th May in Brussels where there participated all NATO members where they discussed about the military strategies, climate, economy and their mutual interest to make the organization move forward.
