Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Industry Koli Bele gave details on the additional benefits that Albania gets from the project.
“The benefits can be grouped into three categories. Benefits stemming from the amendments to the fiscal legislation, which, as such, will cover the entire period starting from the initiation of TAP operation, that is to say, from that moment on, and there will be benefits covering the entire period. Benefits of a legal character, with the most tangible one being related to the fiscal stability aspect, as well as the part that constitutes the extension of this agreement itself.
Additionally, other important elements of this agreement are related to direct benefits for the community which will be in the form of direct payments for community projects. If we were to quantify these benefits, we can say that, in total, including a long-term effect of fiscal alleviation and changes with a fiscal impact, we reach a margin which is approximately $ 90 million,”Bele said.
The MEI representative explained that Albania is committed to maximize its benefits from this project.
