As the country is in the eve of the June 18th parliamentary elections, the political impasse keeps getting deeper.
After the failure of the intervention of foreign diplomats to resolve the political crisis, seems that Albanian politicians are not heading to the path for the dialogue which might bring a solution.
Prime Minister Edi Rama in a meeting with the youth of Korca city explained the negotiations by the two EU diplomats to resolve the political impasse in the country.
Rama said the majority is ready to negotiate unconditionally, and accept the request for postponement of the election date, in accordance with the constitutional freedoms, as well as the Democratic Party’s request for several technical ministries, but according to him this would be possible only after implementing the Vetting.
On the other hand, the opposition approved once again their decision for the election’s boycott and that the country will not hold the elections without opposition’s participation.
“I’d not comment on the majority’s attitude. The SP ‘dictatorship’ will not be settled in Kavaja city or in Albania. There will be no elections without the opposition’s participation”- the opposition leader said.
Meanwhile former Albanian Prime Minister, at the same time a MP ,Berisha, said in his speech :“Do not dare taking steps towards the elections, because you will have the fatal end as well as you deserve. Do not think you can represent the vote of the Albanian citizens. .Now is not 1996, but the Democratic Revolution, by which you will be dismissed one by one. This is my last warning, do not try to go for the elections by absorbing the vote of the citizens. Poor you if you choose this path”.
The political impasse in Albanian is also on focus of international diplomats. The MEP David McCallister after the failure of negotiations reacted through a Facebook post:“It’s been weeks that in Albania is running a deep political crisis regarding the elections planned for June. This happened yesterday in Tirana between the government and the opposition. At certain points there was promissory progress. But there is no consensus regarding the main issue which are the elections and the possible creation of a caretaker government. Now it’s the time to overcome the political impasse.”
