European Union keeps firmly appealing for a democratic electoral process, which according to foreign diplomats, should take place on June 18, and that the opposition knowingly chose to boycott the elections.
For this reason, EU’s institutions, through their top executives, addressed to the political class, three messages. The EU Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn’s letter which was sent yesterday about the Albanian political class and the aggravated political situation was followed by euro-deputies Eduard Kukan and Knut Flekcenstein.
Knut and Fleckenstein supported Hahn’s attitude while stressing that the political situation in Albania is very aggravated and the elections might take place without opposition’s participation.
Fleckenstein added that the situation is alarming since even after the intervention of American diplomats such as the senator John McCain, still there is not found a solution.
“Support this message to Albanian people (referring to Hahn’s letter). Also after my talks in USA,all sad about the Situation. Responsibility also clear.”- Fleckenstein wrote in Twitter post.
