The leader of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, received today at the headquarters of the Democratic Party, Senator John McCain, chairman of the US Senate Committee on Armed Services. After recognizing the contribution that McCain has given to Albania, the opposition leader highlighted a major concern about the critical situation in the country related with the security and organized crime, drug cultivation, and the presence of people having serious criminal records, in the highest rank offices in the country.
Basha further said that the upcoming elections are totally impossible without first taking down the risk posed by the money generated from drugs, and dismantling the risk that criminals pose.
“This is a major obligation of politics towards the Albanian citizens, but also towards our allies, this being an obligation stemming from the country’s NATO membership, which results in Albania securing the standards where by the values of Western democratic countries, are protected, with the most basic being the guarantee for free and fair elections.”
