Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations Commissioner, Johannes Hahn, said that the opening of negotiations with Albania could be achieved if the criteria set by Brussels will be treated in an encouraging way and will produce positive results.
Hahn, said that for a more complete report, one should see what is achieved by October-November by filling out the key points for Albanians.
First, we will see the elections and hope to have a positive report from ODHIR, secondly a reliable start of the Vetting process and thirdly effective fight against drugs. We need to see what can be achieved by October-November, as we have to report to member states.
Important is the quality of the reforms and not the short time that they are done. Creating pressure on time, perhaps helps to boost some, but on the other hand does not make a difference whether we do it in November or January, so if we have more reliability in January, we are moving towards a positive outcome backed by member states.
According to him, it is not just the purpose of presenting the report during this process, but it is the guarantee he will receive from the member countries.
