The Albanian government has officialized the tender that will give the inspection of fuel pumps to a private concessionary company for the next 20 years.
This process is done by the government right now, and it is the second concession in fuels. It is expected to generate at least 50 million EUR of revenues, money that will be paid by citizens as a tax on the gas price.
The government has officially started the bidding. The winning company will be announced after October 18th, and it will take the monopoly for inspecting fuel and gas pumps for the next 20 years.
The service is currently carried out by the government, and, according to the law, pumps need to be inspected every six months for various elements of security and fair measurement. Gas stations pay 14,000 ALL a year for each pump for this service, which goes to the state budget.
With the new concession, that money will go to the private company, and the total annual turnover is about 3 million EUR. This means that for the next 20 years, the winning company will take around 50 million EUR./Top Channel
