Turkey’s President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, congratulated the newly elected president, Ilir Meta. The Turkish president conveyed his wishes through a phone conversation he had with Meta.
Erdogan thanked Meta for his contribution as Speaker of the Parliament in strengthening relations between the two countries. Also, Erdogan invited Meta for an official visit to Turkey.
The newly elected president, Meta, expressed confidence in strengthening the co-operation between Albania and Turkey. He said to Erdogan, among other things, that the region faces major security and stability challenges that require accountability and dedication. Meta emphasized that friendship between Albania and Turkey is important for the entire region.
Meta invited his Turkish counterpart to further strengthen the traditional fraternal relations between the two countries, since cooperation will serve to the regional security and the fight against terrorism.
