Montenegro, Albania and Kosovo have established a joint police co-operation center aimed at improving the exchange of information and increasing the common border security to achieve the Schengen standards.
The Protocol for the Establishment of the Center was signed in Plava by Interior Ministers of Montenegro and Albania, Mevludin Nuhodžić and Dritan Demiraj, as well as Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Kosovo, Valdet Hoxha.
Montenegro’s government announced that the document will contribute to improving cross-border co-operation in the fight against crime through more intensive exchange of operational information and a more effective coordination of joint activities across the state border, Montenegrin media reports.
Germany’s Ambassador in Montenegro Hans Ginter Matern on behalf of the German Government congratulated the governments of Montenegro, Albania and Kosovo for the achievement and promising results in terms of regional co-operation.
While US Ambassador to Montenegro, Margaret en Uehara, thanked the parties on behalf of the US government for their contribution and co-operation on common objectives for the realization of safe and effective border control systems.
