Deputy Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian affairs, Hoyt Brian Yee, held several meetings with Albanian politicians.
The meetings were focused on the political crisis and on a possible compromise between the majority and the opposition.
“There can be elections in June 18 even without opposition’s participation. If some parties choose to abstain from them then they harm themselves. Parties might harm the country’s image and the investments. It is the right of parties not to participate in the elections, it should be noted that Rama is open for negotiations and has accepted the proposals. We support McAllister’s platform” – Yee stated.
It is unknown whether the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State had a concrete offer to the political leaders.
