According to data from the Institute of Statistics, the number of enterprises with participation of foreign capital dropped to about 5,600, down 5.1% compared with 2015.
In fact, last year was recorded a decrease of the total number of active businesses in the economy, with 2.4% less compared to a year ago. From this tendency has been no exception as the number of foreign enterprises, where the decline is even deeper.
About 77% of foreign enterprises are small in size, with less than four employed individuals. Only 308 companies with foreign capital declare more than 50 employees.
In terms of capital origin, structure of foreign enterprises in the economy is dominated by Italian enterprise. For 2016, with the participation of Italian companies were shareholders in 2661 or 47% of the total. Italy has a profound difference in relation to undertakings of other countries, where Greece comes second with 9%, the next Kosovo and Turkey with 8%.
Compared to 2015, there is a growing trend in the number Kosovo businesses. According to Institution of Statistics , there is a total of 442 venture capital Kosovo, operating in Albania.
The structure according to the activity of foreign businesses is similar to the overall enterprise structure in Albania and most are engaged in the service sectors.
Nearly 73% of foreign businesses working in services, while those enterprises working in production are mainly engaged in industry and less in construction or agriculture.
