NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said in Brussels that the North Atlantic Alliance is very concerned about the situation in Macedonia, while it is also attentively following the developments in Albania.
He added that NATO appeals for a democratic process and that the majority in parliament have the right to decide for the people that the government will be formed by.
Stoltenberg made this statement in a debate with the deputies of the Subcommittee on Security and Defense in the European Parliament and stressed that NATO is strengthening in Eastern Europe not for causing possible collision with Russia, but to establish pragmatic relations and that NATO is ready for the dialogue with Moscow.
NATO Secretary General stressed that the North Atlantic Alliance is also tracking the events in Albania. “This means that we want to resolve political problems and end the boycott in Parliament, because Albania is a NATO ally, and this something we particularly appreciate,” he said.
Stoltenberg highlighted that NATO’s presence and its commitment in the Western Balkans ensures the fight against terrorism.
